One never knows when a good idea will come to mind. Take Troy Turbeville as an example. One day while he and his family were hanging out at their pool, he got the idea to place his wife’s drink tumbler onto a kickboard and sail it out to her. This turned into a lightbulb moment. He decided to experiment with making a drink board that functioned better than anything else on the market. He wanted to make it the most reliable way to keep beverages close at hand while in the pool.

Troy’s brother-in-law, Josh Browning, saw potential in this project and decided to join the fun and develop products with Troy in his garage. With some sheets of foam and some hand tools, Cocktail Kickboards was born. Once they had a product that met the quality they set out to achieve, they knew it was time to find a tool that would help them create a better product in a fraction of the time, with repeatable precision. After some research, they found that ShopBot CNC was meant for them.
ShopBot offers a subscription CNC service in select US states. This was appealing to Troy and Josh since they were uncertain if this new business would take off. Instead of paying for the tool outright, they paid a monthly fee for a 3-month period. They received enough orders to justify buying the Desktop CNC tool at a discounted rate from ShopBot.
Cocktail Kickboards offers standard and custom embossed kickboards. If you’re reading this before the end of February 2022, and you or someone you know has a boat, you should enter their giveaway for a custom boat name board!
