The NEW ShopBot Tools PRS5 CNC Machine Series Debuts at IWF 2024 in Atlanta
July 26, 2024, Durham, NC — ShopBot Tools announces the launch of their PRS5 line of full-size gantry CNC routers. The three machine models that are currently a part of the PRS5 series—the PRS5 Standard, PRS5 Alpha, and PRS5 Alpha ATC—feature a streamlined, modular design that emphasizes stability and accessibility. Table sides and rails are level with the tool bed, allowing for 360° visibility of the cutting area and providing the convenience of loading and unloading materials from all sides of the machine.
All three PRS5 models boast the reliability, speeds, and customer support that ShopBot has become known for in their 25+ years of operation. These machines are available with 8”, 14” or 26” of Z travel, as well as other machine options including a vacuum hold down system, additional aluminum extrusion for adding fixtures and jigs, and ShopBot accessories like the rotary indexer (6” or 12”) and vacuum hose cradle.
The new frame design is based on both welded and bolt-together components, designed to increase rigidity and reduce assembly time on-site while keeping the area under the machine open for a vacuum pump or material storage. Tyler Clark, ShopBot Tools’ Lead Machinist, uses a PRS5 Alpha ATC 96-60 to manufacture parts and assemblies used in making ShopBots; “Reliability is important, and ShopBot’s CNC machines have always had that going for them, but the new table design gives me the flexibility to load and unload from all four sides of the machine. I’m also able to clean up easier after completing a machining job because I can get to the area underneath the table.”
The PRS 5 ATC system holds 9 or more interchangeable bits on a toolbar that automatically retracts below the work surface when not in use; preserving easy access to the machine work area from all sides between cuts.
PRS5 Alpha and Alpha ATC models are available in table sizes from 48” – 192” and gantry beam widths from 32” – 108”. The more affordable PRS5 Standard models are available in table sizes from 48” – 96” and gantry beam widths from 48” – 60”. Custom table sizes, accessories, and add-ons are available, including metric bits and collets.
The NEW ShopBot PRS5 Alpha ATC 4×4 with 6” rotary indexer and vacuum hold down system will be on display at IWF 2024 in the ShopBot Tools booth (#B4653). For a limited time only, in conjunction with the new model launch and IWF 2024, ShopBot will offer the new PRS5 line of CNC machines at the same pricing as the prior model.
